Gabriel G. Roman holds a joint PhD from the Université Libre the Bruxelles and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales. His research has focused on human-plant relations in Brazil and Mexico. He is particularly interested in the way vegetal beings are enacted through practices of care, ritual, and exchange. For his PhD, he has investigated the relation between native maize cultivators and their seeds in an indigenous community in the Mixe highlands of Oaxaca, Mexico.
