Isael Maxakali is a filmmaker, visual artist, educator, and holds a PhD in Communication (Notório Saber/Recognition of Traditional Knowledge) from UFMG. A leading figure in contemporary Indigenous cinema, he received the PIPA Online Award in 2020 and directed films such as Konãgxeka: The Maxakali Flood (2016), Yãmĩyhex: Spirit Women (2019), Nũhũ yãgmũ yõg hãm: This Land Is Ours! (2020), and Yõg Ãtak: My Father, Kaiowá (2024).
